I've been meaning to do more art so...

Note: I'm donating 50% of the proceeds from the first four commissions to the Midwest avian adoption/rescue services (MAARS). Idk, I'll screencap the Paypal receipt or something if there are doubters out there. Check the site out! And all the bird stories, especially Rio & Buckley. Poor birds. :( I'm glad they're getting the help they need.
I've long considered getting a parrot (budgie, cockatiel...if I were rich, a conure, lol) for a "pet" but they seem so prone to psychological and/or social problems unless you're around them constantly. As I'm away for the majority of the day at work, I don't think I'll be getting one unless I'm working from home or something like that. I should probably chuck the cheapo cage I've had sitting in the living room for the last two years.

Is last month coming back to haunt me? Too many Survival Horror RPing perhaps. Last night had a dream where I was stuck with several people in a Jurassic Park-esque setting, trapped in a building surrounded by animals that should not exist in this time. Rather than dinosaurs it was other things like insects and deadly spiders and, most distinctively, a bird with a chainsaw-beak "pecking" at people. (...That was kind of cool, actually.) But when I say pecking, I mean "sawing through a guy's arm".

It's not /bad/ and faded pretty much a lot from this morning. Thanks for the concern.
I hope traffic around Chicago isn't toooo bad on a Sunday morning. Must ship out to Mitsuwa and then home. Will try out this newfangled GPS unit. SHOULD BE HOME BY 8PM CST, ONE SHOULD HOPE.
It is 1:25am.
sleepykelvina's wedding was awesome and a hit, and lol being made the technical Maid of Honor the day before. I DID NOT HAVE A SPEECH PREPARED I got handed the microphone at reception tonight and said "Jess is a wonderful person, congratulations." Short. Simple. 8U Uh. I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU LATER.
BUT YES, CONGRATS JESS AND ERIC ON YOUR WEDDING. ♥ ♥ ♥

All righty! I'm headed off to Chicagoland (-area) for
sleepykelvina's wedding! Should be there under 8 hours, driving. I'll make a note when I get there.
Remind me!!! The things I should by should I stop at Kinokuniya's/Mitsuwa. Pay me back later.
On another topic, I haven't used the Yami no Matsuei tag this year THIS MAKES ME SAD so I'm using it now. I realize I haven't charged up my iPod so am breaking out my CDs and soundtracks to listen in the car. I have 2 YnM CDs \8D/ and the Tsuzuki FST. ♥ And I joined Microcosm. :U! What was I saying about balancing multiple RPs?
ETA: I'm alive!

I don't know very much about the Discedo RP, but I love the Riko RPer
cacto_ocupado so so much. Adorable little Japanglish (...Japanese/Spanish/English-speaking?) cactus, rock it out! LOOK AT THOSE ICONS. THE LJ LAYOUT. SO CUTE. And the app makes me wibble a lot.

Currently at my parent's place for dinner. Tomato-curry chicken!
We discussed our work-out stuff (dad's been doing it more since his heart attack, mom does it to stay fit and took a belly dancing class a while ago) and I've been jogging everyday either at work or at the apt gym. Like dorks, I started jogging in place, my mom did some kind of dancing attempt and dad did karate moves while we were all in the kitchen for 5 minutes. :B
Speaking of, I want to join a real gym nearby so I can use the indoor pool. Holly mentioned the Y last Friday, I could see about that... maybe just a month. I think my health insurance also does some kind of rebate thing on memberships too. /lack of knowledge.

Starting Tuesday I have 2 weeks off from work! Yesss, I haven't had #+ weeks off of anything since graduating.
As we brought up last night, Friday Gang, on Friday before Halloween bring all your hair care products and make-up supplies and we'll have ourselves a terrifically self-indulgent and inevitably girly hair/makeup party thing. Hair curlers, last minute costume changes, etc.
Last night we:
- Watched several recent episodes of South Park. Titles have been forgotten, but phrases that may ping you are: That's ignorant. or... Butters is a pimp.
- Fast forwarded through 5 episodes of this season of Project Runway, which I haven't seen anything of. All these designers this year and none of them really stick out. Annoying self-centered girl, guy who looks like he's going to cry most of the time, nice older lady, this show boils down to 20% fashion, 5% Tim Gunn, and the rest is an attempt by editors to milk drama and emo from the footage.
Randomly, I loved the winning wedding-dress-remake one, that dress would look pretty good on anyone. And in agreement with Ally, that wild-west jean dress would look great on a Companion.

I went to see Zombieland yesterday with the Friday Gang. I'd have to say it's one of the best Zombie movies I've seen. The characters did what you'd expect zombie-savvy modern audiences might do if there were a zombipocalypse. (Most of the time, at least. I'm not sure if shutting yourself up at the local pub is any worse than attracting all the zombies in the city to your amusement park.)
Non-spoilery, but here's the rundown of the main characters:
Columbus - our narrator, a nerdy, cute, semi-neurotic, apartment shut-in wuss who has survived this long because he follows some very good rules of thumb. (like "Beware of Bathrooms"). He has a dire fear of clowns.
Tallahassee - the ass-kicking badass with the goal of finding the very last unexpired Twinkie left in the world.
Wichita and Little Rock - pair of awesome sisters trying to take care of each other no matter what.
The beginning sequence is fantastic, as Tina pointed out, and the scenes giving us examples why doing cardio is so important. (Guy runs around the parking lot with zombies following behind, can't get into his car the first try, so ruuuuns around the lot once more to give himself time and gets in the second time.)
Anyway:
- Just about everything I've ever wanted in a zombie movie.
- Doesn't break new ground, but makes old ones look shiny.
- Full of meta and comedy.
- And as I liked in 28 Days, the characters unify to form something like a family. Is nice.
- Per the main actor, the young actress who plays Little Rock actually became an expert marksman during the course of filming the movie.
Don't anger an Oscar-nominated preteen.
Especially, if she's handy with a gun, like "Zombieland" co-star Abigail Breslin. "I have a shotgun in the movie, but there was no reason to actually have me be proficient in gun use, because I never want to have to shoot a gun again in my life. But the little girl, Abbie, was 12 years old, and she became an expert marksperson," says Jesse Eisenberg. "Right off the bat, as you can imagine, someone who's 12 and Academy Award-nominated and a brilliant kid who's the smartest one in the room and the best actress in the room, of course she could shoot a gun better than any of us."
Note: Comments in post will have spoilers.

Epic Mickey Details! If you haven't heard, it's a Disney game coming out, and so far a lot of the concept art looks really amazing.
Quoting directly from the page:
* The game's plot revolves around "forgotten" Disney characters. Obscure characters from long-forgotten cartoons and rides have been cast into a dark world of broken-down machinery and very bitter attitudes.
* The main villain is Disney's first-ever cartoon hero, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Now a nobody, he has rallied the residents of the dark world and is out for revenge against the mouse that took his place as Disney's spokesman.
* Oswald unleashes the Phantom Blot, a monster that invades the Disney universe and begins to disassemble it by using black ink and making the colors of the world run together (this explains the "melting" imagery used in concept art). It's all very meta, this.
* Mickey Mouse will save the Disney world by fixing the Blot's undoings, using a set of tools like paintbrushes, paint thinner, erasers and pencils to restore the artwork of his universe.
* The tools are mapped to various Wiimote gestures.
* The game is all about artwork and exploring. Also, Mickey will be getting a radical makeover, which is why nobody's seen his face yet. A source tells Eurogamer that "he's far more retro than you've seen him for years."
* There are also rumors surfacing that Epic Mickey will not be exclusive to the Wii, based on Game Informer removing the Wii exclusivity claim from its teaser page. Might mean nothing, but we'll have to see.
I'm looking forward to seeing all these long-lost characters.

Ten minutes until I leave work, and by the time I post this it'll be five minutes or better.
Everyone at my office is paranoid about getting sick. The company has installed some kind of automatic door-handle cleaner that sprays antibacterial stuff on it every so often. And we all got free instant hand sanitizer! The chest cold I caught last month seems to not have spread throughout everyone, even though I came in sounding pretty terrible lol. I really should learn how to install things so I could WORK FROM HOME, but then I realize if I worked from home I'd just slack off and surf the net all day.
Come rain or snow or snot, I'll be here?

- Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film was announced. Cool.
- FMA chapter 100. Wow. Shankings and shenannigans.
- FMA: Brotherhood has reached freaky Envy, woot.
- KH: 358/2. I want a DS. And Scribblenauts.
Someone linked this to me so I shall link to you:
Wonderwall of Broken Songs - a pretty nice mashup of Wonderwall, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and a little other.
The coffee at work today tastes pretty nice. Amaretto?

Forecast for this Saturday: "Saturday: Mix of rain and snow showers. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the low 30s." LIES AND FALSEHOODS. :( And it's been raining and cloudy for the past 5 days.
It is 5:30am and I'm reading the chapters of 07-Ghost past the Exam Arc finally. This series is so adorable and sad. There's this tiny cute slaveboy that the main characters rescued, and I keep getting teary-eyed at his backstory.
Capella: "Every day, scary people came to take money and Mother would cry. But when I made dinner Mother would smile... That's why I always tried my hardest. But we steadily ran out of food. I couldn't make anything anymore... Mother apologized so many times... On the last day, we bought cake for the first time since I was born. Mother said she was full so I ate all of it. She said I love you and hugged me... The next day, when I woke up I was on a slave ship. The people from the ship gave mother lots of money for me."

Apparently a new Twelve Kingdoms novella was published in a magazine two days ago! (9/26 - source)
No info on what it's about, however. Some are saying it's probably another side story thing not related to Tai or Yoko directly - but I can hope??

Friday Gang went to see 9! Post-apocalyptic world with neat things, shallow on the story, and more neat things. It's late and so I will give brief reactions ALL IN CAPS.
- HEY THAT ZIPPER WAS DOWN, AND THEN UP, THEN DOWN THE NEXT SHOT. CONTINUITY. FIRST 5 MINUTES.
- SCARY THINGS
- MORE SCARY THINGS
- YOU KNOW THIS SHIT IS EPIC BECAUSE IT HAS SWELLING DRAMATIC MUSIC OVER IT.
- HIGH OCTANE NIGHTMARE FUEL. THIS MOVIE IS 90% NIGHTMARE FUEL. THE SNAKE/CENTIPEDE/SEIZURE-INDUCING ZOMBIE-THING IN PARTICULAR. (eta apparently called "THE SEAMSTRESS")
- Somewheeeere over the rainbooow—
- Spoiler: WOLF'S RAIN, THE END.
Overall, it WAS a fun viewing and I liked it for what it was, but not a lot really happened and there was a lot of suspension of disbelief. But then I remind myself: talking dolls movie based on a college film project.
( CUT FOR MORE SPOILERS AND THOUGHTS ABOUT HOW IT WAS GOING TO END BUT HOW IT DIDN'T )
Why did I type that up, I could just link the Nine(9) TV Tropes page.
