Pendings: sakura_tsuji |
( Pricing Guide )
Note: I'm donating 50% of the proceeds from the first four commissions to the Midwest avian adoption/rescue services (MAARS). Idk, I'll screencap the Paypal receipt or something if there are doubters out there. Check the site out! And all the bird stories, especially Rio & Buckley. Poor birds. :( I'm glad they're getting the help they need.
I've long considered getting a parrot (budgie, cockatiel...if I were rich, a conure, lol) for a "pet" but they seem so prone to psychological and/or social problems unless you're around them constantly. As I'm away for the majority of the day at work, I don't think I'll be getting one unless I'm working from home or something like that. I should probably chuck the cheapo cage I've had sitting in the living room for the last two years.

Sickness update: Day 6, and still going strong. I went to the clinic yesterday and the quick test for strep came back negative, but they sent another sample to test further and I should hear back either today... or Monday. I thought I was doing poorly yesterday (because, lol, smoker voice) but today I can't. Talk. And my eyes are both bloodshot, why. 8( I stayed home from work yesterday, but I'll go in today because no one's gonna be at the office except me.
But other than that I have no fever, no more aches, so I feel pretty pretty normal except throat pain and blarg. Anyone else who caught the Convention Plague, are you still sick???
/complain

As I said on my commission post, here's a screencap!

$50 donated to MAARS! Rock on, guys!!

In other news: Fullmetal Alchemist second series. "HELLO THERE, TAMAKI-VOICED LING" is 100% yes. Yes! I want to see the ninjas and tiny panda.
ETA and I don't know if it's being exacerbated by being sick but muscle aches + PMS = worst bout of cramps I've had in 7 years.
2012: It's a Disaster! - seems to be an accurate depiction of what this movie will be like.

It hurts to swallow bawww. Hopefully I'll be more attentive for cfuw tomorrow on cfud.

I know a few people who don't consider the casting choices in the Avatar: The Last Airbender to be offensive, or who think "I don't get what's the big deal?" If so, then consider
halcyonjazz's post on her thoughts.
"The whitewashing in the upcoming live-action adaptation, The Last Airbender, is nothing but offensive. Period. It's pissing on everything Avatar was trying to change by introducing that oriental fantasy doesn't have to be subjected to orientalism for it to work for the American audience. The fact that they claimed they made the changes BECAUSE American audiences would better relate is offensive."

Tip of the day:
When doing CPR, a lot of people might do the chest compressions too slow. Instead, do it to the beat of the Bee Gee's Stayin' Alive which was written at 103 beats per minute and is close to what you want (CPR should be performed at 100 BPM).

Buffy vs Edward (link ganked from Jo and
belindabird). Scenes of Buffy and Twilight edited together.

Since I can't really watch anime subbed at work, I've been watching the last two arcs of Twelve Kingdoms dubbed. Dub is surprisingly good. \o/ MOSTLY BECAUSE: they do their best to clarify the multiple terms and foreign words in context, (like, for example, "He called him Baka. The idiot.") and the confusing number of names are somehow easier to gloss over and grasp when I'm not actually reading them...
So I can find this later... Twelve Kingdoms, dubbed, on Youtube. Still have another day before my weekend.
Commentary on episode 43 so far: Kouya, the boy raised by youma = ♥. I admit his dub voice makes him sound kind of... derpy... when compared to his hot Japanese voice. :| But I love his and Rokuta's friendship. Also, Shouryuu is the man.

Considering some of the feedback I've seen friends receive in the past, I'm slightly wary... But here is your chance to air your grievances with me if you have them. Good or bad, I think I want to know. If there's anything you'd like to say, please say it here: HONESTY MEME
ETA: Otherwise, good things appreciated too lol. And you don't have to be anon for it.

So almost a year later, I realize someone probably tried to rip off my license plates from my car but they failed. The front license is a bit, uh, bent and I figured I bumped into a high curve or something back when I originally saw that. But I looked at my back license and there's a bend on one corner of it like someone tried to pull it off.
A) Good thing it's bolted down pretty tight. B) My car has an annoying alarm and if you so much as kick the tire when it's armed it screams bloody murder at you.
Edit: Shaking from trying not to laugh at the Vampire Knight drama CD description.
"The plot of this CD is that Chairman Cross locks Kaname and Zero inside a room, telling them they can't go out until they're friends, for the sake of Yuuki. Kaname and Zero start playing a game of faking they feel close to each other, in order to try and make the idea work." "They both were practically courting each other... To the point they had to take a break because they were both so sickened" ohohoho
Translated. Brb dying.

Nature is awesome.
Nature's Great Event: The Great Tide - amaaaaaazing video. It's the yearly sardine run off the coast of Africa. Dolphins lead the charge in chasing together fish. Gannet birds divebomb! Seals snipe! Sharks come in like backup! Then a whale steamrolls over it all.
Leopard Slug Mating Dance - watch until the eeeend. It's actually really gorgeous... once you get over the fact it's giant male parts of a slug entwining with each other.

"11 Killed On Roads In Deadly Holiday Weekend" (so far)
...Dude, guys. Be careful on the roads.
Aaah, day off tomorrow~
Friday gang had an 80's movie partything. I watched Pretty In Pink and the Breakfast Club for the first time. (Yeah.) I can see why they're classics. I like the random dancing, dorky characters, and serious scenes with no soundtrack that forces you to rely on the acting. And, you know, character development. I feel movies these days are pretty shallow on character building more often than not.

Disclaimer: I take back anything I've said about Twilight. I'm sorry for bitching about you! You and your fans are free to enjoy your teeny vampire dramas, and so I can enjoy mine. I say this now because this post is about Vampire Knight, Goddamn it.

Oh shi-- it's 6am and... I'm still awake.
In other news, I listened to South Park commentary tracks all day at work yesterday. It's really cool to learn what goes through Trey and Matt's head, and that the episodes usually take a week and airs as soon as they finish - hence the speed at which they respond to current events. The whole "final-paper-the-night-before-it's-due" happens almost every week and is apparently the only way they can function. Sounds like a blast being on crew, otherwise.
Random knowledge: re, Helen Keller the Musical episode. Before they had decided they wanted to make this a Thanksgiving episode, their initial concept was for Timmy to find a handicapped puppy. But, in Matt and Trey's words, it was just TOO FUCKING SAD when doing the scene where Timmy has to get angry at the animal so it would stay away for its own good... so, in comes Gobbles the Turkey. (Gobbles!!) It's one of my favorite eps.

I'm the only one in the office tonight again \o/ and everyone's working from home. (Jealous... But not enough to figure how to do that on my own.) The last co-worker to leave told me the smoker's cigarette bin outside was on fire and spewing smoke out of the tube (it's one of those long standing ones). I get a trash bucket and fill it with water and I'm only out there for maybe half a minute and now my clothes all reeeeeeeek augh.
Have 3+ more hours of work but now quite distracted.
Also, thank-you to those who replied to my moving-help-wanted entry, even those not in the area. ♥ I'll remind again much later.

This might be a little too early to ask, but Jess and I are moving into a new apartment the weekend after Convergence (so the second weekend in July) - would anyone be interested or free to help out? I'll order pizza and things for people that do come (mmmm free food~).
It's just a new (and bigger?) apartment in the same building/complex so it wouldn't take any extra driving. I'll do another posting about this when it gets closer.
